Portable Electric Generator

Great for Outdoor use ONLY and reasonably priced

Heavy to carry and requires fuel to operate outdoors

Requires routine maintenance fresh gas and oil change
Portable Generator: (Use CAUTION when using a Generator) A generator can be a big help after the storm, if you use it properly.
But generators are dangerous and certain safety rules must be followed:
Never run a generator indoors, or even in the garage-carbon monoxide fumes kill quickly. Always place your generator in a well-ventilated area, make sure it is grounded using copper wire and don't exceed the wattage (link to load chart and load tester below). Limit the numbers of appliances you plug in to a generator and use heavy-duty extension cords. Most important, NEVER CONNECT A GENRATOR TO YOUR HOME WIRING! (unless you have a separate circuit breaker/switch panel approved for this function). If not you can re-energize the wires that the Power Company maybe servicing and cause electrocution to the workers and even cause damage to your electrical system.
